ANZAC Day 2023

Join Hemingway’s and the Toronto Rebels as we come together to commemorate Anzac Day, a day of remembrance for the soldiers who fought in the Gallipoli campaign of World War I.

This year, we are honouring the brave men and women who fought for our countries and their contributions to our collective history.

We invite you to join us at Hemingway’s on our rooftop patio on April 25th, starting at 6pm, for a special Anzac Day celebration and BBQ hosted by the Rebels.

Waitangi Day 2023

With our regular pub night being only 2 days off Waitangi Day, we are combining the two.

Hemingways are taking reservations for the evening, as it’s generally a busy night. The suggestion would be to try and get a table up near “Kiwi Korner” as thats our usual gathering area.

If you are by yourself, and don’t know anyone, feel free to connect with a couple of our members, Dimi Hegglun and Dino Rosta for Maori Churr TV who will be there from 5pm.

Dimi has posted an invitation on the Facebook group – It’s going to be a great night!

We’re having a holiday season pub night on Wednesday 28th December. A lot of you will be recovering from festivities, but don’t let that stop you. Hopefully you are able to come out for a pint or two, meet some good old Kiwi folk and participate in some good old kiwi banter

September Pub Night

Join us at Hemingway’s for our pub nights on the second Wednesday of every month. Whether you’re a newcomer to Toronto and wanting to meet people, or you’ve been here for decades… come, have a drink and meet up with Kiwi friends.

We can be found at Hemingway’s in ‘Kiwi Korner’, on the patio level (top bar), underneath the large mural of Australia and New Zealand.

Waitangi Day

This will be our Feb pub night, not the 2nd Wednesday.

There will be Kiwi Food, from lamb chops to meat pies, and lots of Kiwi’s from Kia Ora Canada – Toronto putting back a cold one or two.

Prizes, Raffles and giveaways will be announced… stay tuned!

We are hopeful our Kapa Haka group will be back,. NGA IWI OTE O which means simply..” People of the World ” . The group is multi cultural as the name indicates. A tutor from the Hastings / Napier based kapa haka group Kahurangi, gave them the title. The group performed at the 1976 Montreal Olympics shortly after formed through the Tranzac Club In Toronto.

Australian Bushfire Relief Fundraiser

Our Aussie mates are doing an Australia Day fundraiser.

Here are the details from their event page:

Let’s do our part to raise money and awareness for the devastation back in Australia.

We are partnering with the Red Cross Australian Bushfire Relief Fund (online donation available in Canada with tax receipt coming soon) and Wildlife Victoria ( https://www.wildlifevictoria.org.au/ ) to help the animals affected.

Our family friendly event kicks off Sunday January 26th from 1pm at Hemingway’s, 142 Cumberland Street, Yorkville, Toronto.

ALL PROCEEDS as detailed below will be donated directly to the above charities.
Silent Auction (runs from 1pm – 6pm, various items available, more to come)
Sausage Sizzle (runs from 1pm – 7pm, $7 a snag and fully donated)
Raffles and Prize draws (will be operating all day)
Live Music – will be played downstairs from 1pm, we have many talented musicians donating their performance
Australia Day/Fundraiser T-shirt ($20 each, available to the first 250 guests and fully donated)
Amsterdam Brewery 3speed Lager ($2 from every pint will be donated)

We have some fantastic prizes already donated, but we would love to add between now and January 20th. If you have something to donate, please email aussiefundraiser@hemingways.to with details.
